Xcel crews finished their work along the 43rd - 44th block, and also from 38th - 39th, this past Saturday as scheduled so that we could begin our roadway prep work. Barring any significant rainfall, we are set to pave the southbound lanes from 44th to just past 43rd in concrete tomorrow, with the work being completed in just one day. Curb and gutter from 43rd to 44th is expected to be poured on Monday, August 1st into Tuesday, August 2nd. Xcel crews are now working from 43rd to 41st and expect to have that section completed by August 13th.

Now that the gas line relocation work is finished from 38th - 39th, we have begun more extensive roadway removals—including trolley track removals—along that stretch. That work is expected to take most of this week, and we anticipate paving the southbound lanes of that block at the end of next week. Irrigation and electrical work is ongoing along Tennyson.

Gas line relocation/service work is moving along well. Xcel/NPL crews expect to have their work from 38th - 39th, and from 43rd - 44th, completed this Saturday, July 23rd. (Also, due to excellent cooperative work between the contractor/city team and Xcel, expedited potholing work by Xcel was completed in just half a day yesterday, allowing the road to be reopened sooner than expected.) As their work continues this week, we are placing electrical conduit along the west side. That work will be ongoing for the next few weeks.

Upon completion of the gas line work this Saturday, Concrete Works will immediately begin roadway preparation (on Monday, July 25th) for the paving of Tennyson from 43rd to 44th, which is scheduled for Thursday, July 28th or Friday, July 29th.

Also on Monday, July 25th, Xcel/NPL crews will begin their work on the gas line relocation from 41st to 43rd. We will also be working on irrigation sleeve placement at 43rd next week.

We are planning to begin trolly track removals from 38th - 39th on Tuesday, July 26th, and that will take us most of that week. Once those removals are complete, we will immediately begin roadway paving preparation work and we should be ready to pave that block near the end of the week of August 1st. New roadway concrete is coming soon!

Trolley track removal between 41st and 44th

The old trolley tracks that ran up and down Tennyson were uncovered and removal started today. The tracks were abandoned and paved over in the late 1940's. Its a fun piece of our local history here on Tennyson. This is an image from the Denver Public Library showing the railcars on Tennyson and 41st with the old Alcott Elementary School in the background. circa 1905

New traffic lights at 44th and Tennyson

Holes were dug and concrete was pored in front of Metro Frame Works and Parisi's but progress was haulted at the old La Casita sight with environmental issues. For those of you not familar with the old sight it was a gas station years ago, then a Tasty-freeze and lastly our favorite quick burrito and tamale destination.
Removal of the northbound roadway from 43rd - 44th started Tuesday, June 21st, and on Wednesday we began laying pipe for the storm sewer replacement, beginning at the 44th Avenue intersection and working south. This work is expected to be completed the middle of next week, weather permitting. With the completion of the storm sewer line, Concrete Works will start removals of southbound Tennyson, from 44th - 41st, on Thursday, June 30th, and begin the subgrade prep in advance of street paving. We anticipate starting these removals at the end of next week unless we run into any unforeseen utility conflicts. As with the work going on now, there will be a traffic detour in place, and we will give you more details next week in advance of that work. We will also be removing and replacing driveways at the same time, but will provide uninterrupted access by pouring them in sections. Alley accesses will not be affected by this work. There will also be some signal work at 44th next week that will bring some sidewalk impacts.

Gas line relocation is ongoing between 38th and 39th, and that work is anticipated to continue through the first week of July. Denver Water's work on Tennyson is complete.

Even with all the work scheduled, we are mindful of the First Friday event next Friday, July 1st, and we will be buttoning up the site as much as possible, and ending work early that day.
